Several Alvarado High School choir students spent their Halloween auditioning for All-Region Choir in Stephenville. By the end of the long day, four students had sang their way onto the prestigious choir and, in doing so, moved to the third round of All-State tryouts.
Junior Nick Ladd, 10^th chair in the bass section; junior Mary Smith, seventh chair soprano; senior Sara Fischer, fourth chair soprano; and junior Jonathan Arndt, first chair tenor, were all named to the All-Region choir.
Also being recognized in Stephenville were junior Miguel Ramirez and sophomore Destany Place, who earned chairs in the All-District choir.
Members of the All-Region and All-District choirs will participate in full day clinics on Saturday, Nov. 21 and present a concert at 7 p.m. that evening at the Performing Arts Center on the Cleburne High School campus.
The four All-Region students will spend the next three weeks preparing for their next challenge in the arduous quest for All-State Choir membership. On Friday, Nov. 20 they compete in the pre-Area tryouts, the next to last stage of All-State trials. Only five singers from each section of 12 will be selected to attend the fourth and final round of the All-State auditions in January.
